No cruiser biking or beach boardwalks to ride here. Yet a very vibrant Malibu bike community, with road biking on north PCH, and challenging mountain bike trails all through the coastal mountains.

Malibu Road Bike Routes
Topanga Canyon Loop – (TrimbleOutdoors) Winding road gains 1,500 feet through thick coastal vegetation till overlooking Santa Monica and Los Angeles glimmering in the distance. 43 miles
Zuma to Ventura Loop – (mapmyride) Beautiful, not too hilly, mostly ocean front ride along Pacific Coast Highway and then through the farmlands. Some traffic lights in Ventura. 67 miles
Latigo Canyon Road – (mapmyride) Popular for serious training, challenging 2120 foot climb up 4.75 miles of coastal canyons. 9.5 miles total.
Zuma to Pt. Mugu Naval Base – (mapmyride) Same as Zuma to Ventura loop, turning back when reaching the farmlands. Leave early to have coastal winds at your back on ride home. 40 miles.
Malibu Mountain Biking Trails
Malibu Creek Loop – (trails.com) Taxes the legs but rewards the eyes. Mile for mile, one of the most scenic tours in all of Southern California, peaking on a summit with ocean views. 15 mile loop.
Backbone Trail – (mtbr.com) Great mix of fire road climbing, singletrack speed, rocky technical sections, and lush scenery. You decide distance.
Point Mugu and Guadalasca Trails – (mtbr.com) A crushing 7 mile uphill, but the views are terrific all year. Great long fire road descent. 14 miles.
